Arkansas’ Waveland Park swim beach reopens after passing water tests
HAVANA, Ark. — Officials announced that the swim beach at Waveland Park in western Arkansas is open again after temporary closure due to water quality concerns.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Blue Mountain Lake Field Office reopened the beach after routine testing showed water conditions met state health requirements, officials said.

According to the USACE, field office personnel previously closed the area after detecting E. coli levels above safe limits.

Arkansas Department of Health guidelines require two consecutive acceptable water samples before a swim beach can reopen, officials said.

Although the beach is open, USACE warned that high water levels in the region have increased the risk of submerged hazards for swimmers and boaters.
