Another 20 homes are being threatened by the fire, prompting the evacuation order as a safety precaution. The San Juan County Sheriff advised residents within five miles of the fire or Mountain Shadow Estates to evacuate. Those who have been displaced are advised to go to the Community Center at Highway 46 in La Sal.
Per Utah Fire Info, it is possible that areas in the Manti La-Sal National Forest will face further closures, though exact areas have not been confirmed.
Kayli Guild, with the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, told ABC4.com that the terrain that is burning is steep, rough and rugged. While that can pose a challenge for firefighting efforts, fire crews are actively looking at a few natural rock outcroppings to use as natural fire breaks.

Crews are also working to build dozer lines along the ridgeline above Highway 46 to help prevent the fire from spreading. The Great Basin Critical Incident Management Team 4 will be assuming command on Sunday.
