On The Map: El Nido

In 1848, word had gotten out that gold was discovered at Sutter’s Mill.
Well, California became very popular then.
People flooded out to the state like crazy.
But even after the Gold Rush was over, California’s population continued to increase.

Ever wonder why?

Well perhaps it could be that people just wanted a better life for themselves. A peaceful, more prosperous life. That was Bob Long’s conclusion as well.

“I guess that must’ve been the feeling of Amanda Stone and a lot of others back then. Before people were moving west, spreading out to our Valley. And this is where they settled, to build, to raise families, to till the soil, and make things grow. But it was Amanda Stone who picked the name.”

Well, how did she come up with the name? Well, if you’re building a home for yourself, you want it to be safe, you want it to be comfortable. A sweet little nest.
