An arrest warrant was issued on July 3 for 24-year-old Tyler Beauclaire, a Louisiana native, on three counts of murder in the second degree and two counts of aggravated battery.
He was taken into custody on July 9 in Beech Grove.
Investigators in Butler County, Kansas, believe Beauclaire was behind the wheel of a Chevy pickup that crashed on Highway 400 on the evening of June 11, 2025.
Witnesses reported seeing the Chevy swerving before it crossed into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle head-on.
The collision killed 46-year-old Eliot Eichbauer, his son, 19-year-old Arlo Eichbauer, and his nephew, 16-year-old Silas Eichbauer. All three were from Wichita, Kansas.
Two passengers in Beauclaire’s truck suffered serious injuries.
Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and were awaiting toxicology results.
According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, investigators believe Beauclaire left Kansas after the crash and returned to Louisiana for a time before he was located in central Indiana.
Police arrested him in Beech Grove about a week after the arrest warrant was issued. A collaborative effort involving Butler County sheriff’s investigators, Louisiana State Police and the Beech Grove Police Department led to his arrest.
Beauclaire’s charges include three counts of murder in the second degree for the three people killed in the crash and two counts of aggravated battery for the two passengers in his truck.
Beauclaire is expected to be extradited from Indiana to Kansas.
