Morgan was hired as the pitching coach for the UTSA Roadrunners, head coach Vann Stuedeman announced Wednesday. Morgan is fresh off helping the Longhorns capture the program’s first national championship,
“Our team got better today,” Stuedeman said in a press release. “Mac brings experience to our team that few have achieved-she is a national champion. She has lived and breathed every aspect of what it takes to be a champion. Mac is a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point competitor, and I am excited for our bullpen and our team.”
Morgan transferred to Texas after her freshman year at Arizona State and was a workhorse for the Longhorns her sophomore and junior seasons. Her finesse style of pitching helped her to a 45-9 record with a 2.47 ERA as a Longhorn, throwing more than 100 innings in 2023 and 2024. She went 18-4 with 145.2 innings pitched in 2023 and 16-1 last season in 107.1 innings.
Her role as a senior was limited as far as total innings go, but she provided critical innings when the Longhorns needed them. She picked up two wins in the postseason over Clemson and Tennessee to help Texas keep its season alive.
Morgan graduated from Texas with a degree in sports management.
The Roadrunners finished 21-34 and 6-21 in the American Athletic Conference last season.
