“Everybody needs healthy red protein, and that’s what we’re able to give them,” said Hunters for the Hungry Director Gary Arrington.
The Hillcats have hosted Hunters for the Hungry nights for the past 12 years. During that time, just raffles alone held during the games have raised $42,000.
What does that translate into people fed?
Arrington provided the answer: “That is almost 120,000 quarter pound servings and meals that have gone on the plates of men, women, children, the elderly, the homeless, and our veterans who are struggling with hunger.”
Hillcats management and players have embraced the cause.
“Being able to use our voice, our platform, our social media to provide that service and to provide that education to bring that in,” said Dallas Mata of the Lynchburg Hillcats.
Tickets are available online and at the gate at Bank of the James Stadium. Game time is 6:30 p.m. Special raffle items are being made available by Mossy Oak Properties. Fans are encouraged to wear camo to the game.
