SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A Hazmat fire involving a train is active near the Salt Lake City Airport, according to Salt Lake City Fire. Fire crews are actively responding to this incident.

“We are working on an active hazmat in the area of 436 N Neil Armstrong Road,” Salt Lake City Fire posted on X.

“This was a fire involving a train. The haz-mat is due to the diesel leaking.”

A train reportedly derailed at the location, causing a fire in the grass. Crews have reportedly put out the fire though diesel fuel is still leaking.

Hazmat crews are on scene. This is an ongoing incident.

This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as new information becomes available.
