“During a lawful search today, a man appeared to fire a gun at law enforcement at 2:26pm on Laguna Rd. between Wood & Las Posas,” FBI Los Angeles posted on X
Sky5 was overhead as several hundred protesters gathered at Glass House Farms in Camarillo, where agents were conducting a sweep and detaining workers.
The incident escalated around 12:35 p.m. when officers deployed tear gas and less-than-lethal rounds into crowds of protestors who had blocked roadways on both north and southbound Laguna Road.
Ventura County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and set up a triage system for people injured by tear gas at a safe distance from the ongoing operation.
Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott said that among those detained were 10 undocumented minors.
United States Attorney Bill Essayli shared details about the suspected shooter and the reward in a separate post.
“FBI has issued a $50,000 award for information leading to the conviction of an Unknown Subject who appeared to fire a pistol at Federal Law Enforcement Officers near Camarillo,” Essayli said in the post.
Essayli shared a video in the post showing the suspect firing what looks like a handgun at federal agents. There were no reports of anyone wounded by gunfire.
