Tucker Todd, 47, was convicted of raping a 43-year-old woman who had fallen asleep at Don Davis Park on the afternoon of July 3, 2024. She was visiting Newport for the holiday weekend at the time, the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office said.
According to court documents, Todd is an unhoused person based out of Corvallis. He had taken the bus to Newport and was camping at the park when he found the victim unconscious in a grassy area.
Todd said during the trial that he was drunk and doesn’t remember what happened that day. Though he apologized to the victim for what happened, he also stated he didn’t agree with the sentencing or verdict.
The victim stated she would be comforted by any additional amount added to Todd’s sentence.
“The fact that he showed no compunction in raping me in broad daylight in a public place speaks volumes. He just doesn’t care. Maybe prison will change him, but I doubt it. I worry about the next time that he finds some other helpless female and what he might do to her,” she said.
Todd was found guilty by a 12-person jury over a three-day trial of first-degree rape and second-degree sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 100 months in prison. He won’t be eligible for early release and must register as a sex offender.
Todd has prior criminal convictions out of Missouri, including for assault, sexual misconduct and failing to register as a sex offender.
