(KRON) — Suspects tried to ram a car through a commercial building before dumping the vehicle at the scene and fleeing the area in a second car, said the Oakland Police Department. Police are reaching out to the public for tips that can aid their investigation.

The attempted burglary occurred on Thursday just before 1:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Hegenberger Road.

“When officers arrived, they learned that two vehicles were involved in the incident,” said OPD. “The suspects used one vehicle to ram the building in hopes of gaining entry. However, the suspects were unsuccessful and left the area in the second vehicle, leaving the first vehicle.”
