Arkansas legislative committee hears testimony from Department of Corrections on Grant Hardin escape

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – An Arkansas legislative committee is set to hear from the Department of Corrections and other officials in a hearing on Thursday at 3 p.m.

The hearing is an investigation and review of a prison escape from the DOC North Central Unit in Calico Rock in May. The May escape of inmate Grant Hardin led to a multi-week search until he was found on June 6, less than a mile and a half from the prison.

A DOC official said earlier that someone “had not done their job” in allowing Hardin to walk through a secure entry gate while wearing a fake police uniform. Two DOC members had their employment terminated on Wednesday for undisclosed reasons.
