HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Toyota officials say to improve manufacturing efficiencies and to better serve customers based on market demand, Toyota is transitioning production across its plants in Kentucky and Indiana.

Officials say, as previously announced, Toyota plans to produce two all-new, three-row battery electric SUVs in the U.S. Toyota will now assemble both vehicles at Toyota Kentucky, which is located in Georgetown, Kentucky.

A spokesperson for the company says Toyota Indiana will continue to assemble the Grand Highlander in its west plant and add assembly of the vehicle to its east plant to accommodate increased production volume. The plant will also continue to assemble the Sienna, Highlander and Lexus TX models.

According to Toyota, construction of the battery pack assembly plant is underway and on schedule. The facility will support future product.

A spokesperson says, “We remain committed to providing long-term job stability for our team members.”
