Longhorns head coach Sean Miller announced the signing of England’s Lewis Obiorah and Germany’s Declan Duru Jr. on Wednesday. The international signings add more European-born players to the roster after Lithuania’s Matas Voketaitis transferred from Florida Atlantic earlier in the offseason.
Obiorah is a 7-foot-1 center from London and spent the past season playing for Barking Abbey in the Elite Academy Basketball League. He helped lead the team to the EABL championship with 10.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game. He was named the MVP of the EABL championship series, and he will play for Great Britain at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket Championship Division B from July 11-20 in Armenia.
Duru, a 6-foot-9 forward who has played in Real Madrid’s academy for the past five years, helped lead Germany to a silver medal at this year’s FIBA U19 World Cup and a gold medal in last year’s FIBA U18 EuroBasket Championships.
During club competition, he suited up for Real Madrid’s B squad and their U19 team. He scored 7.5 points and grabbed 5.5 rebounds per game for Real Madrid B in 17 games. He shot 41.9% from 3-point range for the U19 team in seven games, scoring 12 points per game with 5.4 rebounds per game.
Both players will be true freshmen for the Longhorns in the 2025-26 season.
