CHICAGO — A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found with a fatal gunshot wound on the city’s West Side on Wednesday night.

Chicago police said the victim, a 44-year-old man, was found unresponsive in the 2600 block of West Wilcox Street, in East Garfield Park, just after 9:13 p.m.

Officers were initially called to the scene following a call regarding an unresponsive male in the street. When they arrived, they found the man, who had suffered a gunshot wound to his head.

After officers found him, the victim was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed and it is unclear what led to the shooting.

An investigation is now underway and officers say no arrests have been made.
