According to Chicago police, the four-vehicle crash unfolded just before 7:30 p.m. in the 12700 block of South Halsted Street in West Pullman.
Officers said an SUV being driven by a 31-year-old man, with a 34-year-old man and a 26-year-old man sitting as passengers, was heading east along Vermont Street, at Halsted, when he allegedly ran a red light and crashed into two sedans and a Pace bus.
Multiple people were injured in the crash, including at least four Pace passengers.
In total, officers said nine people, including at least four Pace passengers, were injured in the crash.
A 27-year-old woman and a 6-year-old boy who were in one of the sedans that was struck were both hospitalized in good condition.
The driver and passenger of the second sedan declined medical attention at the scene.
Four passengers on the bus, a 32-year-old woman, a 62-year-old man, a 46-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman, were hospitalized in good condition.
Additionally, the driver of the SUV and his 34-year-old passenger both suffered critical injuries, while the 26-year-old passenger was hospitalized in good condition.
Authorities have not said if any there were any citations issued or arrests made in connection with the crash.
