CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 21-year-old woman has been charged with felony child abuse after a 4-year-old boy was found with multiple burns on his legs, believed to have been caused by a cigarette, according to Mecklenburg County court documents.

Armani Beautiful Espino, of Charlotte, was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with felony child abuse, inflicting serious physical injury.

According to court documents, the burns, described as “five burns to the legs consistent with the end of a cigarette,” were discovered while the child was under Espino’s care.

The incident reportedly occurred while Espino was watching the child and his 6-year-old sister. At the time, Espino was identified as the girlfriend of the children’s father and was left alone with them.

Authorities said the child, who is just over 4  years old, suffered serious physical injuries. The injuries led to Espino’s arrest on Thursday.

She was booked with a $5,000 secured bond.
