Officers responded to the scene and found human remains in an advanced stage of decomposition. Property belonging to Julian Edward “Eddie” Nichols III, who was reported missing on June 10, was located nearby.
Nichols, 50, had not been seen or heard from since May 30. He was described as a white male, 6’2”, about 210 pounds, and commonly went by “Eddie.” He was believed to be driving a black early-2000s Dodge truck.
While an autopsy is pending to confirm the identity of the body, police say there is no evidence of criminal activity or any ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Auburn Police at (334) 501-3100, the tip line at (334) 246-1391, or email police@auburnalabama.org.
