Woodbridge man pleads guilty to deadly shooting outside hookah lounge

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A Woodbridge man pleaded guilty to a deadly shooting that happened outside a hookah lounge more than four years ago.

The Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Asworth announced on Monday, July 7, that 29-year-old Traivon Johnson pled guilty to second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and more.

The charges stemmed from a shooting on March 25, 2021, in the parking lot of the Babylon Cafe that claimed the life of Kalin Robinson.

When Prince William County police officers arrived at the bar and hookah lounge, they found Robinson, who had been shot multiple times in his neck, shoulder, abdomen and legs in the parking lot.

Throughout the investigation, detectives obtained security camera footage that showed Johnson firing the gun before leaving the area.

Detectives also learned that Johnson had threatened to shoot Robinson, who was his ex-girlfriend’s new romantic partner, a month before the incident. Knowing that his ex-girlfriend and Robinson visited the lounge frequently, officials said Johnson planned to murder Robinson on March 26.

The attorney’s office also added that Robinson was spotted on a Ring camera in his neighborhood grabbing a gun. During the investigation, the same cartridge casings of the gun found in his home and at the crime scene were identical.

Gun violence such as this will not be tolerated in our community. Resolution of this tragic case took many years, but through the continued cooperation of Prince William County Police detectives and the hard work of the attorneys in this office, a strong case was built that has resulted in guilty pleas to four very serious charges. We believe that justice has been served as a result of today’s [July 7, 2025] hearing.
