HARFORD COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Deputies said two people were hospitalized after a fight escalated to a shooting in Harford County Sunday night.

Minutes before 11 p.m. on July 6, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was dispatched to the 1600 block of Candlewood Court in Edgewood, where they found a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

Deputies began life-saving measures, and both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s office said the woman, 24, was in stable condition. However, the man, 23, was in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.

As the investigation developed, detectives learned that the 23-year-old man was involved in a fight with another man. As the fight escalated, another person took out a gun and shot the two victims.

The motive remains under investigation; however, investigators believed that everyone involved knew each other and the shooting was not random.

“After the shooting occurred, multiple social media posts were made, inaccurately claiming this incident was an active shooter incident. In the event of an incident occurring that is a threat to public safety, the HCSO is the most reliable and official way that the public would be notified. Please remember that the only confirmed information is what is released by the HCSO,” said the sheriff’s office in a release.

As of Monday, no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 443-409-3154.
