
The incident happened around 4 p.m., near 3000 E Seegmiller Drive.

A fire started inside the home and the suspect exited to the backyard, where he surrendered to police and was taken into custody. Police believe there is no longer an active threat to residents in the area.
Additionally, a significant amount of smoke could be seen near the home, as well as visible flames. The SGPD, and several Washington County resources, including the sheriff’s offices, SWAT teams, and negotiation teams, responded.
Police will be investigating it as an officer-involved critical incident.
Residents are still being asked to avoid the area until they’ve resolved this situation. The local fire department is on scene and working on the house fire.
