(WOWK) – Flash flood warnings have been issued for Athens, Meigs, Gallia , Jackson, Wood and Mason Counties. These warnings are set to expire at 3:45 PM.

Pike County Kentucky and Buchanan County Virginia were issued flash flood warnings a little later in the afternoon. Pike County’s warning is set to expire at 4:45 PM with Buchanan’s lasting slightly longer until 5 PM.

Roane, Calhoun, Wirt, Gilmer, and Braxton Counties also were issued flashflood warnings this afternoon. This round of warnings is set to expire at 5:30 PM

Radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall. Rainfall estimates are between 1 and 3 inches of rain across the warned area.

Watch out for localized flooding especially near small creeks, and streams as well as areas with poor drainage like urban areas, highways and underpasses.
