The free one-day event aims to cover education, health, wellness and community.
In addition to the free backpacks, the event will offer many more activities for children to look forward to. There will be a variety of activities, including face painting, balloon art, bounce houses, and cotton candy stations.
The event will kick off with a 5K Walk/Run, followed by community group fitness sessions.
During this time, attendees can enjoy a prize giveaway, as well as health, wellness, and educational presentations.
The community health and job fair will open, granting visitors the perfect opportunity to receive health screenings and browse local resources.
The event will conclude with back-to-school giveaways, featuring backpacks filled with school supplies, and more family fun.
Organizer and founder of RISE Shreveport, Dr. DeMarkus Webb, shares the importance of events such as these, “#FightForYou Fest is a heartbeat for the community, an open invitation to R.I.S.E. above fear, failure, and frustration. It’s not just for those in crisis, but for every person who needs a reminder that their story still matters, and that they are still worthy of wellness, joy, and growth.
The all-day event is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will take place at Bill Cockrell Park.
