The Miss Texas Scholarship Program, part of the Miss America Organization, is about empowering women through education, leadership, and service. Each year, it awards thousands of dollars in scholarships, not just to the titleholder, but to candidates across the state who participate at the local and state levels.
From aspiring doctors and lawyers to future educators and entrepreneurs, these young women are chasing more than a crown, they’re pursuing dreams.
The Miss Texas program emphasizes talent, interview skills, public speaking, and community service. Candidates choose a Community Service Initiative, something they’re passionate about and spend months, sometimes years, advocating for change.
While the competition culminates in a stage performance, the preparation goes far beyond the spotlight. These women build resumes, earn scholarships, and form lifelong friendships and mentorships along the way.
Each summer, the state competition takes over at the Eismann Theatre in Richardson and the contestants stay at the Renaissance Richardson —dubbed “Crown Central” during pageant week. It’s where rehearsals happen, interviews take place, and new role models are crowned.
For the reigning Miss Texas, the crown comes with a full-time job traveling the state, speaking at schools and events, and serving as an ambassador for the organization.
