(KRON) — Weeks after the Pleasanton Police Department warned the community of a series of ATM robberies, authorities announced on Wednesday the arrest of a 12-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy in connection with the crime spree.

Both the preteen and the teenager are residents of Livermore, police said. According to authorities, the 12-year-old boy was found with an unserialized gun during his arrest.

Pleasanton PD did not release the names of the suspects due to their ages.

The arrests come after multiple incidents in which two or three suspects threatened and physically assaulted victims who had used ATMs. Police said the suspects stole cash from the victims in the early evening hours while wearing dark clothing and full-face masks.

In each robbery, the suspects fled in a different getaway vehicle, Pleasanton PD said.

Following the incidents, the police department increased patrols around local bank parking lots and put out an advisory to the community warning against withdrawing large amounts of cash at once.

The boys were booked into juvenile hall for first-degree robbery.
