Oregon running back Makhi Hughes and defensive back Dillon Thieneman were named to the 2025 Walter Camp preseason all-American second-team.
Hughes comes to UO after two seasons at Tulane where he was all-AAC first-team, ranked 10th nationally in rushing yards, and 20th in rushing yards per game (100.1). As a freshman (2023), he rushed 1,378 yards with seven touchdowns and as a sophomore (2024) ran for 1,401 yards and 15 scores.
The Birmingham, Ala., native was a standout from the beginning of his collegiate career, winning AAC Rookie of the Year and first-team all-conference honors in 2023.
After two seasons with Purdue, Thieneman was named 2023 FWAA Defensive Freshman of the Year and received Associated Press third-team all-America honors. In his first season, he ranked third nationally in interceptions (6) and led all FBS freshmen in solo tackles (74).
In 2023, his 106 total tackles led all FBS freshmen and ranked fifth in the Big Ten. The next season, he had 104 total tackles which placed him first in the Big Ten.
