
The president discussed new tariff letters sent to several countries Monday, adding that the Aug. 1 tariff deadline allows for deals, which he said are the deals he’s giving countries to correct a trade imbalance. “We could make a lot for deals, it’s just too time-consuming, makes things a little more time-consuming,” Trump said.
Trump praised the military strikes in Iran while criticizing the meeting. He has a meeting planned with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Tuesday afternoon.
He’s coming over later. We’re going to be talking about, I would say almost exclusively, Gaza,” Trump said. “We gotta get that solved,” said Trump.
He also criticized the E.U.’s treatment of “our companies,” noting lawsuits against Apple and Google that have resulted in the American companies being ordered by European courts to pay.
“They take so much money away from our country in terms of that, in terms of other things that they do,” Trump said. “They’re very tough. But now they’re being very nice to us. And, we’ll see what happens.”
Trump also said he plans to visit Texas on Friday where flash floods have killed more than 100 people, raising questions about recent cuts to the National Weather Service and FEMA.
