Thousands brave heat for night 2 of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour

LANDOVER, Md. (DC News Now) — The “Beyhive” was swarming for night two of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour at Northwest Stadium.

Thousands of fans waited for hours in the brutal heat to get merchandise and try to get close to the stage.

Many fans brought manual and electric fans to try to stay cool, with some finding spots of shade to rest in.

One fan said it’s not just a concert but a fashion show. Most fans showed up decked out in cowboy boots and hats, with many wearing denim adorned in rhinestones.

Fans from across the DMV showed up, but many also traveled from out of state and even other countries.

“This was the closest show to us and we’ve been waiting years to see her,” said Emma Jaaskelainen of Ontario, Canada.

“She doesn’t come to Canada often, so we’re coming to her,” added Brode Andrew of Ontario, Canada.

Nearly every fan had a list of songs they were hoping to hear.

“I’ve been a fan since I was a little girl, and I come to every show if I can,” said Jordan Robinson of Virginia Beach, Va. “And so I’m excited to hear Two Hands to Heaven. Desert Eagle, everything. Really? Everything. I just want to be in the same area as Beyonce.”

Vanessa Campbell brought her granddaughter, Nazaria Dunlap, to the show. Campbell said Dunlap never had a “B” in her school career but nearly had one this year.

“I promised her. I said if you bring that B up to an A, then I’ll get the Beyonce tickets,” Campbell said. “The next morning she texted me like 20 different pictures of her grades, letting me know she had an A, so of course I had to buy the tickets.”

“I’ve been loving Beyonce since like birth. Look, I was like, oh, we’re going to go see Beyonce? Uh huh, let me go ahead and call this teacher, get my grade up, grade my stuff,” Dunlap said.

Some in line were excited for their very first concert, while other mother-daughter duos have made this a regular occurrence.

“Every Beyoncé show, I have brought my daughter. This has been like our mother-daughter tradition since she was probably five. So I just want to see it all,” said Stephanie Davis of Bear, Delaware.
