Police said they arrested 24-year-old Rayshad Kyles after he punched a person in the face and stole a bag of chips and a Snapple drink.
The incident took place at CA Plaza Liquor at 600 N. Irwin St. at 7:40 a.m. on June 30. Police said a person reported that Kyles entered the store, grabbed a bag of chips and a Snapple drink from the cooler and walked out without paying.
When the person confronted Kyles outside the store, Kyles allegedly punched him in the face and ran away.
Shortly after the call, officers saw Kyles walking in front of the Hanford Police Department. Police said he matched the victim’s description of him, and was also found holding the stolen chips and Snapple.
Officers said the victim identified Kyles after doing an in-field show-up, and also stated that Kyles had stolen from the store on at least three or four other occasions. Kyles was arrested and taken to the Kings County Jail.
The police department said this is not the first time Kyles was arrested for a similar crime; he was allegedly involved in another robbery where he struck a store clerk with a stick after being confronted for stealing a drink in 2024.
The total value of the stolen items was about $5.29.
