Man charged after trying to meet up with 13-year-old girl, documents say

Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

LEHI, Utah (ABC4) — A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged after attempting to meet up with an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old girl on social media.

Michael Elesario Douglass Estrada, 24, of Pleasant Grove, has been charged with enticing a minor and attempted rape of a child.

On June 30, 2025, according to charging documents, an undercover officer with the Lehi Police Department created an online profile, posing as a 13-year-old female child on the app Hush. The officer made a post from the account that read, “I wish I had plans for the weekend. F/Utah.”

A user responded to the post shortly after, and the two began a conversation. The user, later identified as Estrada, told the officer posing as a 13-year-old that they should “get to know each other” before meeting up because meeting up with an online stranger was risky.

Estrada asked to move the conversation to Telegram, which “offers self-destructing messages, secret chats, and end-to-end encryption,” documents say.

The undercover officer ensured that Estrada was aware he was conversing with an alleged 13-year-old child as the conversation proceeded. He allegedly acknowledged the child’s age and explained the risks of them meeting up, including sexually-transmitted diseases, pregnancy, and him getting in “serious trouble.”

After describing the potential dangers, Estrada told the undercover officer that he was willing to accept those risks and asked for a photo of the 13-year-old. The officer sent an altered photo that looked like a child, and Estrada asked for a video of the child eating to prove that they were real.

The officer refused to send a video, and Estrada decided to continue the conversation, documents say. Estrada set up a meeting with what he believed to be a 13-year-old child and said he would “bring condoms.”

When Estrada arrived at the meeting location, police took him into custody. A search of Estrada’s person located three condoms, and he allegedly admitted in a police interview that he was intending to have sexual intercourse with the underage child.

Estrada is currently being held without bail at the Utah County Jail due to the “substantial threat” he poses to children and the community.
