According to court documents, on June 26, 2025, police were told that 45-year-old Damon Coiro, a football coach at Providence Day, engaged in indecent liberties with a student while he was employed at the school.
His bio on his X account says he is a defensive coordinator with the Providence Day Chargers.
The victim told detectives that she had been in communication with Coiro since late 2023. During the conversations, Coiro allegedly made sexually motivated comments towards the victim about her relationships with others.
In June 2025, the victim said Coiro asked her to show him her breasts and even nicknamed her after an adult sex worker, documents state. A month prior, in May 2025, Coiro allegedly bought alcohol for the student.
Recently, on June 30, Coiro was interviewed by detectives, where he admitted to buying alcohol for the victim, asking to see a picture of her breasts, making comments to her that referenced sexual content and that their conversations were inappropriate.
Records show Coiro was booked into the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office on June 7 and charged with indecent liberties with a student and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. He was given a $10,000 secured bond.
Queen City News reached out to Providence Day School for a statement but hasn’t yet heard back.
