Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has activated the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Mobile Field Force, sending twenty Ohio State Troopers to the area to help with search, rescue and recovery efforts following the deadly flooding that happened on July 4. DeWine’s office says the troopers will be in Texas for one week.
“Our hearts go out to everyone in Texas who is suffering through such an unthinkable tragedy,” said DeWine. “By sending in our teams from Ohio, we can support recovery work and give some relief to the Texas first responders who’ve been working nearly nonstop for several days straight.”
The governor says he called Texas Governor Greg Abbott over the weekend to offer support.
Along with the OSHP Mobile Field Force, the Governor is also sending an Ohio Department of Natural Resources team of four natural resource officers and four K-9s to aid Texas first responders. DeWine’s office says the K-9s in the group are trained for search, rescue and recovery.
