A new analysis from Retirement Living, a platform for retirement planning services, identified the best cities in the state for retirees, weighing factors like housing affordability, poverty rates, and the percentage of senior residents.
Topping the list is Roseville, located just outside Sacramento. According to the report, Roseville has a median home price of $635,000, a low poverty rate of 5.6% and nearly 19% of the population is over 65.
Oceanside and Torrance ranked second and third, respectively.
Both have large senior populations and are in close proximity to beaches. Torrance has the highest share of seniors on the list at 21.6%, but the city also has the highest home prices within the top ten, with a median sale price of $1.3 million.
Oceanside, where one in five residents is 65 or older, has a median home price of $850,500 and an average rent of $2,293 per month.

Los Angeles ranked 61st on the list, with 14.4% of the city’s population being over 65.
