The chase started on I-10 westbound. The driver then turned around in the median near Henderson and started going back to Baton Rouge when he crashed near Whiskey Bay.
The driver was injured and taken to a local hospital, where he was placed under arrest, officials said.
ORIGINAL STORY: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Eastbound I-10 is at a standstill near the I-49 interchange, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
An accident has blocked all eastbound lanes, according to a DOTD alert. I-10 eastbound at the I-49 interchange to Whiskey Bay is closed due to a crash on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge.
The detour includes I-49 northbound to U.S. 190.
