
CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A South Carolina woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday morning, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Elizabeth Melton, a 74-year-old from Summerville, was killed when the 2024 Buick Encore she was driving struck a 2019 Land Rover Discovery. A 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer then hit the car Melton was driving. A passenger in the Buick was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred around 7:23 a.m. on I-20 about two miles east of Heflin. Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division investigated the crash.
