At around 1:10 p.m., McBride was driving southbound on Main Street at an “excessively high rate of speed,” according to Heber Police. He reportedly ignored traffic signals and drove into oncoming traffic.
As he went through a red light, McBride crashed into a vehicle that was making a left-hand turn onto Main Street.
Upon arrival at the scene, police were confronted with a “volatile situation,” a press release from Heber Police states. McBride reportedly told officers he had a weapon and told them to “get back.”
He proceeded to barricade himself inside the vehicle. After around 5-10 minutes of standoff, McBride got out of the vehicle but refused police commands.
Officers then used a Taser on McBride and took him into custody without further incident.
McBride was booked into Wasatch County jail on the aforementioned charges. No further information is currently available.
