Toddler in critical condition after near drowning in Fresno, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE) – A toddler is in critical condition after nearly drowning during a Fourth of July celebration in Fresno, police said.

On Friday, around 1:20 p.m., officers received a report of a two-year-old who was found unresponsive at a home in the 3600 block of North Maple Avenue.

Police say the toddler had fallen into a small wading pool at the bottom of a water slide the family had rented.

The toddler was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition. Updates will be provided as they become available.
