Hot and dry holiday weekend
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Independence Day weekend, Utah! High pressure is building over the region bringing dry warm conditions for the weekend with temperatures just a couple degrees above average.

This weekend’s daytime highs will run in the upper 80s to low 90s for most, with upper 90s to low 100s in the typical hot spots. Clear skies are in store statewide through the weekend as well.

By Monday, the heat is on with temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 90s and 100s for the St. George area. The warming trend continues through the middle of the week — triple digits making a comeback in northern Utah. High pressure will remain in control for the next little while, which means the already-dry vegetation will dry further. Dry heat and breezy conditions could exacerbate the fire conditions, so be mindful of where you set off your leftover fireworks.

The bottom line? Warm dry weather sticks around this weekend before heating up even more through the workweek.
