According to the Women’s March, the demonstrations happening around the country are part of an ongoing effort to “free America from the grip of greedy billionaires who rig the system for themselves.”
“Your freedom. Your people. Your rebellion,” the website said.
The Women’s March website encouraged communities to create their own Free America events, with hundreds now scheduled around the nation this weekend. The website added that these events are intended to be peaceful.
“Occupy space joyfully—with dancing, costumes, music, food, and conversation,” the website says.
There is currently a plethora of Free America events scheduled for the Fourth of July weekend in Pennsylvania, but none in the Midstate. One event, in the Indiana County area, dubbed itself the “No Kings 2.0 July 4th Rally.”
The No Kings Protests were a series of nationwide rallies protesting the Trump Administration on June 14, the same day as the Army’s 250th anniversary celebration and President Trump’s 79th birthday.
While there appears to be less steam and media attention in Pennsylvania for the latest round of anti-Trump protests, events are still happening in prominent locations.
Axios reported that local groups in Florida are organizing protests outside of President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, featuring a “Trump baby” balloon.
A third round of nationwide protests dubbed the “Good Trouble Lives On” rallies are set to occur on July 17 across the nation, in honor of civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis.
