In a post on X, Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said units were called to the 400 block of University Boulevard around 1:45 a.m. on the Fourth of July. This is near West and Dennis Avenue.
Once on the scene, crews found that a black SUV had slammed into the side of a house. Piringer noted that the collision sparked a gas-fed fire, and flames began spreading to the gas meter.
According to officials, the fiery crash left 14 people displaced, and the driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Pictures posted on social media showed that all airbags had deployed in the SUV. A cloud of smoke could be seen sitting over the house early Friday morning.
