SALT LAKE CITY (
ABC4) —
Utah Transit Authority has reopened the TRAX Red Line to the University of Utah campus from July 3-5 to service events at Rice-Eccles Stadium occurring this weekend. Riders will also be able to use UTA’s
Ticket As Fare program to get free rides to Monster Jam World and Western Stampede.
UTA is encouraging travelers to plan ahead and to use public transit for events over the Fourth of July weekend.
UTA has been performing maintenance on the TRAX Red Line between Courthouse and University Medical Center Stations, which means that there has been no service between those stations. However, for the Fourth of July holiday weekend, operations will resume in order to help people get to holiday events.
Here are some service alerts for the holiday weekend:
- Bus, paratransit, UTA On Demand, and FrontRunner will be operating on a Saturday schedule.
- TRAX and S-Line will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
There are two events this weekend that qualify for the Ticket As Fare program. It applies to regular busses, express busses, UTA On Demand, Trax, S-Line, and Frontrunner. You need to be able to show your ticket to the event as proof of fare. You can ride UTA services for free to the following events:
UTA also said that while other events along the Wasatch Front are not Ticket As Fare, people can still use UTA services to make travel easier and avoid parking. You can access city celebrations throughout Box Elder, Davis, Salt Lake, Tooele, Utah, and Weber Counties using UTA bus and TRAX service, which connect to multiple FrontRunner stations.
