NOLA Pool Passport: Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans is poolside oasis on Bourbon Street

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Soak up the sun and buzzing Bourbon Street energy at the Oasis Pool Bar and outdoor heated swimming pool at The Royal Sonesta New Orleans.

One of the largest pools in the French Quarter, our New Orleans hotel swimming pool is chlorine-chemical-free and heated.

“It’s an oasis away from the craziness of Bourbon Street and everything going on right outside our front doors,” David Bilbe, General Manager of Royal Sonesta New Orleans said.

The Royal Sonesta Pool located in a courtyard on the third floor of the hotel is one of six local pools taking part in WGNO’s “NOLA Pool Passport.”

With the “NOLA Pool Passport” card, you get into six different pools for only $64, that’s basically $10 per pool location.

Our “pool boy” Kenny Lopez takes us for a swim.

“When you first walk into the pool area, you enjoy a nice raised deck pool. The architecture surrounding the pool is classic French Quarter. There’s plenty of seating and plenty of lounge chairs. The pool is 4-foot-9 inches, so it is a wading pool where you can stand around with your friends and enjoy a beverage from our Oasis bar, and we also have a grill on the weekends,” Bilbe said.

Bilbe said, “It is an opportunity for locals to experience the hotel and experience the pool without having to check in and be a guest of the hotel. When you come here, you can truly relax with the serenity and the quietness, and make a splash!”
