The U.S. Department of Labor reported 12,034 Pennsylvanians filed initial unemployment claims for the week ending in June 28.
That’s 2,985 fewer from the week before, in which the state also had the second largest decrease in claims.
Nationally, the Labor Department said new jobless claims for the week ending in June 28 fell by 4,000 to 233,000 claims.
The Commonwealth still sits below the national unemployment average. The PA Department of Labor recorded the state’s unemployment rate at 3.9% in May, showing no change since April.
