Man charged in shooting on NC interstate
BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — A 29-year-old man is in custody after a shooting that took place on Interstate 85 North/40 East on Wednesday night, according to the Burlington Police Department.

At around 8:28 p.m. on Wednesday, officers came to I-85 N/40 E after getting a report of a shooting.

Ryan Kasheen Lunsford, 29, of Burlington, was taken into custody and charged with the following:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • Attempted discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle
  • Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance
  • Assault by pointing a gun
  • Discharging a firearm in the city limits

Lunsford was not given bond.

Police say that there have not been any injuries reported as a result of the shooting and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
