JUAB COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Crews are responding to a new fire in Juab County called the Sage Valley Fire. Officials say it is between 50-100 acres and is on a mix of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and private land.

The fire started about 8 miles north of Mills, Utah. This area of Juab County is in a red flag area, meaning it is experiencing critical wildfire conditions due to high winds and low humidity.

Landon Rowley, the Central Area Fire Management officer told ABC4.com that first responders have been able to get the Sage Valley Fire under control, and it is unlikely to get any bigger. They say there is no forward progress by the fire.

While the investigation is underway, the fire is suspected to have started due to a lightning strike that occurred sometime Wednesday evening. At this time, no structures are threatened.

A combination of the dry conditions, sporadic thunderstorms, and firework celebrations have contributed to multiple brushfires throughout the state recently.

This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as new information becomes available.
