According to Chicago police, the two-vehicle crash unfolded just after 2 a.m. Friday, near the intersection of West Belmont Avenue and North Cumberland Avenue in O’Hare, along the border with River Grove.
Officers say the crash involved a white vehicle being driven by a man between 40 and 48 years of age and a blue SUV being driven by a 30-year-old man.
POlice said the driver of the white Vehicle was heading west along Belmont when he allegedly disregarded a traffic signal and struck a blue SUV traveling north along Cumberland.
Officers said the driver of the white SUV sustained trauma to his body and was later transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck was not injured in the crash and refused medical attention at the scene.
Authorities have not identified the driver killed and an investigation is now underway.
