DES PLAINES, Ill. (WGN) — A crash involving a semi truck in the northwestern Suburbs caused some road closures during rush hour on Wednesday morning.

The crash, which appeared to have involved a truck that was hauling garbage, unfolded in the 400 block of East Golf Road in Des Plaines.

SkyCam 9 was over the scene around 7:35 a.m. Wednesday, when the truck and trailer could be seen lying on their side, with some debris from the trailer scattered on the roadway nearby.

On the scene, at least two additional trucks appeared to have been brought in to help with the cleanup, but crews were still assessing the damage when SkyCam 9 was over the scene.

The crash did not appear to be causing significant traffic impacts. From overhead, crews could be seen rerouting westbound traffic from Golf and Seeger roads onto South Wolf Road. Eastbound lanes of Gold Road also appeared to be closed in the area near the crash.

It is currently unclear what led to the crash. In an update Wednesday evening, Des Plaines Police Department Commander Matt Bowler told WGN News that officers ticketed the driver for failure to reduce speed. Police said the driver also suffered minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital for observation.
