CPD uncovers case of animal abuse as emaciated pets found in Irving Park home

CHICAGO (WGN) —  Chicago police say officers discovered a case of animal abuse in the Irving Park neighborhood on the city’s North Side. 

After being called to a home in the 4500 block of N. Lowell on Thursday, July 3, police say they found several dead animals. 

Officers also found three emaciated dogs and a bearded dragon.  

According to police, the house was also filled with hoarding and waste. 

Officers arrested the resident but released her without charges. She has since been taken to a hospital for mental evaluation. 

No further details were provided.
