LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Members of the Arkansas political establishment reacted to the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act in the U.S. House on Friday afternoon.

All House members from Arkansas voted for the bill and issued statements supporting the bill’s impact on the economy, particularly its tax-cutting provisions.

Rep. French Hill (AR-02) took to social media to state, “Republicans promised to deliver border security, rein in inflation, relieve regulatory burdens, unleash American energy, and keep taxes low for everyday Arkansans and Americans, and this landmark bill does just that.”

Rep. Rick Crawford (AR-01) issued a statement that read in part: “While I am not thrilled with every change the Senate made to the House-passed version of the One Big Beautiful Bill, it still delivers on many of the promises President Trump and Republicans made to Americans. Today, I proudly voted to preserve the largest tax cut in history for working and middle-class Americans, bolster border security, and make a significant investment in U.S. national security.”

Rep. Steve Womack (AR-03) echoed the same support for tax cutting in his statement.

“This legislation protects hardworking Arkansans and families across the country from tax hikes—making permanent key provisions that help you provide for your family while also strengthening our national defense and border security to keep us safe and prosperous at home,” his statement said in part. “Republicans have a tremendous opportunity to usher in a new era of American prosperity, and this one, big, beautiful bill is a giant step towards that.”

Rep. Bruce Westerman (AR-04) spoke about the act being a Republican-led effort.

“After months of tireless work, bicameral conversations, and late-night committee markups, House and Senate Republicans have passed a reconciliation package that unleashes American energy, provides lower tax rates for all Americans, secures our borders, strengthens our nation’s military capabilities, and roots out government waste, fraud, and abuse,” his statement read in part.

The Arkansas Farm Bureau issued a statement in support of the bill and its impact on Arkansans.

“Without the passage of a new farm bill, farmers and ranchers across the country have been left in limbo,” the statement read in part. “The members of Arkansas’s Congressional delegation worked to include several key agriculture provisions in the reconciliation package, also known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. These provisions are desperately needed to ensure farmers and ranchers are able to continue providing food and fiber for our country.”

The Farm Bureau statement also continued to thank Sen. John Boozman (R-AR) and his leadership of the Senate Ag Committee, which “was critical in the negotiation process to ensure agriculture and rural America were included in this package.”

The Arkansas Food Bank issued a statement shortly before the bill’s passage, expressing concern about the “nearly $200 million in cuts to SNAP” in the bill and the impact on food insecurity.

“These changes threaten access to food for hundreds of thousands of Arkansans,” the statement read in part.

According to Foodbank figures included in the statement, 64% of SNAP recipients in Arkansas are families with children, with 1 in 13 Arkansans relying on the program.
