Win $10,000 Louisiana talent competition, apply here

LOUISIANA (KTAL/KMSS) —The Bayou Star Search, a statewide talent contest for Louisiana performers, offers a $10,000 prize for the winner, and applications are now open.

‘Whether you sing, dance, juggle, act, or bring something totally unique to the stage, we want you to show us what you’ve got!’

Bayou Star Search is held at Louisiana Tech University’s Ruston campus. The competition, produced by the nonprofit organization Louisiana Delta Ballet, supports the teaching of ballet to young people.

The winner of the competition wins $10,000, second place takes home $3,000, and third place receives $1,000. According to their website, talents include singing, dancing, instrumental music, skits, magic, comedy, and spoken word, with no lip syncing allowed.

Bayou Star Search, talent eligibility:

• All participants must be residents of Louisiana.
• All ages are invited to participate. They state that acts ‘involving any member under 18 must have written consent from parents or guardians for each member under 18.’
• “Students attending an in-state higher education institution are allowed.”
• Video submissions should be no longer than 2 ½ minutes. The application process includes an audio/visual submission. Participants must ensure links to their audition video are working.

Applications are now open and cost $35; registration closes on July 13th at 11:59 p.m.

Applicants will be invited to participate in the August 16 competition and will be notified via phone call, email, and/or mail package following the submission deadline.
