Where are Tri-State 4th of July festivals happening?

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) – The Independence Day weekend is here, and there are events happening all throughout the Tri-State to celebrate the holiday.

CHARLESTON: It’s time once again for the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta. The event starts Thursday, July 3, and runs through Sunday, July 6, with a wide range of events, activities, and live music, including some big-name headliners. See the full schedule of events here.

RIPLEY: It wouldn’t be a list of 4th of July celebrations without “America’s Largest Small Town Independence Day Celebration” in Ripley! The carnival has already started and runs through Friday, July 4. More events kick off Wednesday and Thursday evenings, including live music, a mullet contest, a watermelon eating contest and more! Friday is the big day with events for the kids, the opening ceremony, the annual Grand Parade at noon, live music, and fireworks to end the festivities. HURRICANE: The City of Hurricane will be celebrating the 4th of July on Friday, starting with a parade at 4 p.m., followed by an evening of free, fun activities at the Putnam County Bank Sports Complex from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Activities for the event include a hot dog eating contest, inflatables, games, close-up magic, balloon art, sand art, food and more. Fireworks are set to round out the festivities.

ST. ALBANS: Maranatha Church in St. Albans is hosting a Freedom Celebration at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 3. The event is set to have free food, ice cream, a foam party for the kids, and end with a fireworks show.

POINT PLEASANT: The City of Point Pleasant is set to host its annual Liberty Fest on July 4 and July 5. The celebration will include food, inflatables for the kids, and activities for all ages, including live music both nights. Saturday will also include a parade at 3 p.m. and the ‘Anything that Floats race at 5 p.m. The race will be followed by live music leading up to the 10 p.m. fireworks show!

HUNTINGTON: The annual Dawg Dazzle and Red, White and Bluegrass celebration in the Jewel City is set for Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Harris Riverfront Park. Both events do require tickets, and while Dawg Dazzle’s tickets are free and can be picked up at locations listed on their website, the tickets for Red, White and Bluegrass do need to be purchased, and you can do so from the Huntington Symphony Orchestra’s website.

BARBOURSVILLE: It’s a Fourth of July Friday of Fireworks and Food Trucks in Barboursville to celebrate the holiday! The event is set to start at 5 p.m. with food trucks at Barboursville Park. The fireworks are set to launch at 10 p.m.

GALLIPOLIS: After a rocky start to whether the fireworks would happen this year, the Gallipolis River Rec Festival is set to end the festivities with a bang thanks to some community involvement! Events are going on all day Friday, July 4, at Gallipolis City Park, starting at 8 a.m. and ending with the fireworks at 10 p.m. The city’s annual Independence Day Parade will kick off at 11 a.m. Other events include a talent show, a pretty baby contest, a turtle racing and frog jumping contest, live music and more!

WAVERLY: A Fourth of July Parade and BBQ is set to kick off at 11 a.m. on July 3 at Bristol Village, but the fun doesn’t end Thursday! On Friday, the Lake White Boat Parade is set to kick off at noon, and the Canal Kaboom fireworks are set to take place on Saturday, July 5.

JACKSON: The Jackson Fire Fighters’ Association has planned the city’s celebrations for Thursday night! The events kick off with a parade at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks at 10 p.m.

Kentucky

COAL RUN: Veering from the traditional 4th of July Celebration, Appalachian Mountain Wrestling is hosting its annual “AMW Independence Day Slamboree” on July 3. Along with the 7 p.m. wrestling match, free event includes food, music and ends with fireworks.

PRESTONSBURG: Floyd County Tourism and Prestonsburg Tourism are boasting “the biggest fireworks show in Eastern Kentucky” for the 4th of July. The fireworks are set to take place at 10 p.m. in the City of Prestonsburg.

ASHLAND: The City of Ashland’s Summer Motion is underway, and the final night, Country Music Night, collides with the 4th of July! This means after the live music from the Frontmen, the event will kick off with a 10:15 p.m. fireworks show. Each night, the event kicks off at 4 p.m. with food vendors, children’s inflatables, games and specialty booths, and a 5 p.m. start for the carnival. Wednesday night is Bluegrass night and Contemporary Christian night is Thursday.
